ASGA releases permitting delays and inconsistencies report

January 14, 2020  By Alberta Sand & Gravel Association

Jan. 14, 2020 – In 2019, the Alberta Sand & Gravel Association (ASGA) Land & Environment committee complied a report on permitting delays, their causes and proposals to solve them. ASGA recently shared the report with their membership.

One of the biggest challenges to the sand and gravel (aggregate) industry in Alberta is delays in the permitting process through Alberta Environment & Parks. The process can take years to complete. This makes it difficult and expensive to provide aggregates to the projects that need this resource, such as construction or road maintenance.

The report is available to industry and government in the hopes of creating a dialogue to fix delays and ensure an ecologically safe supply of aggregate to Albertans.
